    What eej said:

She looks like a black tri aussie mix.

My bff’s an aussie breeder. They are so smart and funny. They do need to work, though!

Id like to know your naming convention for how you think up your pets names. Does this mean next year its a Chuck and Coco calendar?

  • Chrissy

When I saw your gift I gasped with delight! Hold on to that Jon – he’s the best.

  • http://busymomma66.blogspot.com Busymomma66

    What a cute pupper!!

  • Jane

THAT IS THE CUTEST PUPPY EVER!!! SO ADORABLE AND FLOOFY! What breed is she? Or is she mixed?

Anyway, I hope you’re feeling better and your family’s doing well. And I pray that the death in the family is of a plant…or a beloved fruit fly…

May the New Year be brighter for you all. =]

Oh, dear me, that is one gorgeous pup. I myself have been having puppy fever in the worst way, although there is no way it would work for us in our house right now, what with two aging, cranky, inappropriately defecating cats. That would go over well with them, no? I’ll just live vicariously through you – please, more pictures of that puppy, I can smell his breath from here. Pure heaven.

PS – hope you are all on the mend. Happy New Year!

My first thought upon death in family and new dog scared the crap outta me. Is Chuck ok?

  • http://gorabbitrabbit.blogspot.com Sarah

I just said “awwww” out loud…lucky you! I’m glad you got a really cute something for Christmas, and I hope 2008 is a much, much nicer year than 2007.
(Can’t wait to hear about Chuck’s and Leta’s reactions. Write!)

I love her! Poor Chuck; hope he’s ready for a fun, wild ride! Doubt you’ll get Coco to balance things on her head because it doesn’t look like she’ll sit still that long!

  • Rachel

OK that is one cute pup, I just want to cuddle her! Such a sweet gift.

  • sge

she’s adorable!! can’t wait to hear all about chuck and leta’s reactions to the new addition! :) hope you and the rest of the family recover from all the various illnesses soon!

  • SuzieQ

Who says money can’t buy happiness? Nothing sweeter than a new puppy and I bet in short time Chuck will be in love if not already…now, maybe I can get that “Hippo” song out of my head!! Hope your new year is wonderful..

  • Katherine

Still trying to wash the hymns outta my own brain after visiting with certain members of my family over the holidays.

We watched my Mormon nephew get baptized in December, and my heathen six year old loudly (’cause he has no other volume) wondered why his cousin was going swimming inside the church in white coveralls. Even though I told him what to expect beforehand. The next day in sacrament meeting, he wanted to know why they were giving us snacks in the middle of the whole affair, and not only that, but, “Why is my snack so tiny? Can I have juice instead of water? Can I keep this tiny cup? Can I have more snack? Bring back the snack!!!” I got a lot of serious LOOKS from my grandparents.

If he had one, it would totally go in the scrapbook.

  • http://johnsthing.blogspot.com John

I can’t stand it. You have two cute dogs now. And who knows what you’ll get Coco to do. Perhaps dance or draw pictures with markers in his mouth.

If I got a dog, I bet his trick would end up being peeing on all the wrong stuff. Like clean laundry. Or guests.

    You have all the luck.

Sorry about the death in the family, and congrats on the new pup :)

  • MJ

I love Coco and want her already! I want to keees her widdle nose.

  • http://winecat.typepad.com winecat

I’m so glad to hear your feeling better. Nothing more hellish than strep throat.

Coco is ADORABLE! How do Chuck and Leta feel about her?

Washing Leta’s brain out with soap, I love that.

  • http://www.aplanetnamedjanet.blogspot.com Janet

Such a cute puppy dog. We saw a guy out running with two border collies the other day. They were so well behaved — they waited for him as he approached the bend in the road and stayed off the asphalt. Made me want one.

  • http://bigpikchur.blogspot.com jules

I bet if you add some drops of sunshine to Coco Puff’s water bowl, she’ll turn into a hippo. I’ve seen these hybrids. Very exciting!

You should have held out for a hippo. That would have been awesome.

  • Janie

Glad you’re feeling better mentally and physically, Heather…I hope your recent loss wasn’t too close to you.
Very sad how much I missed you all LOL….I have literally been ACHING to hear about Leta’s Christmas! (what can I say? all the kids in my family are grown now!)

    Congrats on your puppy present.

  • just me over here

    welcome back.

    sleepless nights ahead in deed!

  • http://highwaybynight.com Katharina

Wow, that’s funny – I was about to send you an email about whether there is any way you could send me a print of my favorite Chuck picture, you know, whether you do that at all or had the possibilities.

Now I may have to rethink some stuff. Because that new one, man, that’s a beautiful dog. Jesus Christ, how ADORABLE! Why does everyone get puppies this year?

I’m so not jealous – as I’m sure you can tell.

Can’t wait for the must-be-upcoming coverage of total Chuck-Coco-Leta madness.

  • http://www.myspace.com/shimmygirl Nielle

Does this mean there will be a daily Coco too? I hope so! Cuteness!

  • Meg

My first dog’s name was Coco — she was a scamp of a beagle mix who never complained when I decided to sleep in her dog bed, WITH HER, as a toddler and tied ribbons on her ears. I can only hope that this Coco and Leta, and Chuck, have as many wonderful memories as I do of mine.

And I send you wishes and good luck for a quick housetraining!

  • http://sydneys_shadow.blogspot.com SydneyDawn

She’s adorable! I can’t wait for all the good puppy stories. Hope everyone is adapting ok.

  • icanread

    I like it.

  • Mary

I’m new around here and have been laughing so hard–
You need to find a pet psychic so you can find out what Chuck thinks about this all and report back to the internet, stat!

Cute puppy, gorgeous daughter, lovely man-toy, amazing writer-mom– PLUS CHUCK! I can’t stop reading.

  • http://www.kidkate.typepad.com KidKate

Awwww! Can’t wait to hear about Chuck’s reaction! My dog was smitten when we got our second, then jealous, then back to smitten. Unfortunately for him AND for me–she has eyes only for my husband.

Heather I saw this and thought that it was wonderful to see how you sharing your experince has helped others. Happy New Year

I’m sorry to hear about all the crap going on! But your new pup is so cute! My husband gave me a puppy for Christmas as well and I’ve been exhausted trying to keep up. That cute little face keeps me going though!

  • http://tiggerlane.blogspot.com Tiggerlane

Sickness over the holidays is totally sucky.
But new puppy? AWESOME! Not quite a hippo, but hey – I’ve been trying to talk my hubby into a girlfriend for my nutless dog, and he just won’t give in.

I foresee next year’s calendar being a HUGE hit!

And now there’s no basement for Chuck to slither into…poor little thing.

  • Keely

Oh Jesus H, she is so friggin cute.

  • http://timmitoler.com timmi

YEAY! Dooce is back on the air! No more reruns! No more writer’s strike! AND NOW THERE ARE PUPPIES!

  • J. Bo

    *GASP*

A new pup in the family! Can’t wait to hear what Chuck thinks of this one…

  • Kristen

I got a puppy too! A chocolate Lab. We named her Mango!

  • schwa

If her nose looks off-kilter tonight it is because I have softly kronshed it from afar.

And then I nibbled on Chuck’s ear so he wouldn’t feel left out.

  • http://lindseysrantings.com/ Lindsey Fay

Gah! I will trade you ALL of my star wars action figures for that dog!!

    Eh? Eh? Original packaging!

Love the site, and missed your posts!

  • Carolyn

Oh, she is just absolutely *gorgeous*. Perfectly fluffily wonderful.

Hi Coco-puppy! No matter what he says about it, don’t listen to Chuck’s emo music. You’re far too young to emote that level of angst. Stick to cute, you do it well.

  • becs

Heather…. a beauty of a pup! Hope you are all feeling better. Lots of love from one of your English fans. Our Christmas was also filled with stress…husband slipped a disc a week before wedding anniversary and Christmas and both my 18 month old and almost 4 year old sons were ill…hurrah. But we soldiered on as i am sure you did!

  • http://squirrelstories.blogspot.com E-Lo

OOOOOHHHH. LOVE her. She’s adorable. I hope she and Chuck are getting along. My puppy biological clock is ticking louder than ever now.

Chuck and Coco calender for 09!!!
