My heart's beating like a rabbit
A little over a month ago some good people from Nintendo came to my house and threw a Wii Fit party. My job was to gather up ten of my friends and prepare them to be humiliated by their Wii Fit age, something determined by your BMI/weight, your age, and some balancing acts that would cause a veteran circus performer to fall over. I don't think it helped that almost everyone had consumed at least two glasses of wine before attempting to balance themselves on one foot, or that some of them like myself would have a hard time balancing on one foot when completely sober. On average, everyone's Wii Fit age was about 10 years older than their actual age. Except for a certain 24-year-old who has yet to be beaten down by life, so of course, she aced the balancing tests. This is one of the problems with the Wii Fit, that it doesn't allow you to input all the years of therapy you've been through, the sleepless nights, the hours and weeks and months spent worrying about your kids, that one Thanksgiving dinner with your in-laws, how you almost filed for bankruptcy, or the countless times your boss belittled you in front of the entire company. Because if you take all that into account then MY GOD, IT'S A MIRACLE YOU'RE STILL STANDING. In those instances the Wii Fit should hand you a cigarette.
My Wii Fit age was 35 (I'll be 33 next month), which isn't too bad, but it's something I'm definitely going to work on as part of the overall changes I'd like to see in my life. The reason I'm even writing about this is because Nintendo has agreed to give me five Wii and Wii Fit systems (as a set) to give away to five of my readers.
I get approached to do things like this all the time, but this is the first time I've done a give away because this is a product I use, something in my house, something I'd love to share with you. Nintendo is not paying me to do this, and just to clear up some confusion, I would never accept money to post about anything here. That's not how this website works. Everything you see in my style section is something I have bought with my own money or is a gift sent to me from one of my readers, a gift I would have gone out and bought had I known about it beforehand, something that fits right in with my aesthetic. I work very hard to make sure that you can trust that what I say here is in no way influenced by advertisers or corporations who are trying to reach a bunch of eyeballs. Your eyeballs deserve as much.
The give away is going to work like this: I'm going to leave comments open on this post until Wednesday July 2nd at 5:00 PM Mountain Daylight Time. You are free to leave a comment as many times as you want, preferably a comment about the Wii Fit and what you think it might do for you or your family, and then on Wednesday night after I close comments I'm going to call The Avon World Sales Leader (my mother, for those who are just joining us), tell her how many comments there are, and then ask her to list off five random numbers between one and that number. She will not have read the comments, so the only thing she will be influenced by is The Spirit. And maybe the vodka she had in her orange juice that morning. HA HA! Just kidding. My mom doesn't drink orange juice.

I'm a runner who is too lazy to stretch. Because of this I had tendonitis in both knees, hip problems and a tight IT band by the time I ran the St. George marathon last year. Every time I went to my PT, he would exclaim "Are you sure you ran a marathon, because if you did it's a complete miracle. You are the tightest, most inflexible person I've ever met." So...I would love a Wii Fit so that I can look like an inflexible fool in the comfort of my own home instead of at the yoga studio. Oh, and hopefully it would get me through my marathon training injury free this year.

I totally need a Wii Fit because I live in Austin, where it is 110 degrees every day now and so you can't go outside after 11am without bursting into flames. I have a 2-year old so it's very difficult to get outside early enough to exercise without having your skin melt and I don't want to gain back the 34 pounds of baby weight I lost 6 months ago because I can't get outside to exercise. I would make Wii Fit proud!

I actually managed to snag a Wii Fit the day they came out, and my boyfriend and I use it every day. He's down 20lbs so far; I'm down around 10lbs. We're doing other stuff as well, of course, but the tracking system really motivates us to keep going.

How would we use a wii fit? Hm. We have a 2 year old son who is channeling THE most high strung movie star that ever existed, treating us as his personal assistants. We try to work in shifts, but often I find I'm pulling double and triple shifts while my husband hides in his office. I would love to incorporate some interacive television into our routine...as it stands, now we just watch it like vegetables. Until Sir Movie Star decides he is done with (insert any activity/toy/food product here) and we must jump up and relieve him of his burden and find something else to entertain his incredibly discerning taste and humor.

I have two kids, aged 3 and 5 and I've been reluctant to get them into video games because we are very big on playing outdoors and being active... which is just our personalities, not a snooty my-kids-are-better-because-they-ride-bikes thing. We really just like being outdoors when we can. When the Wii Fit came out I thought it might be a fun thing to do with them, but chalked it up to an excuse to buy Wii MarioKart too.... which I would totally get, who are we kidding? I've been working my butt off at getting fit in the last year (literally) in hopes that it would help me with a medical condition I have (PCOS, which leads to infertility in a lot of cases), so that I can have a kid potentially as adorable as Leta! :) My husband, however, is an avid gamer, and therefore, when he's home, it's difficult to convince him to support my efforts at exercise when there are more fun things (video games) to do. I must find a way to get back in shape! I've been married for a year and nine months and in that span I've gained over 70 Lbs! It's embarrasing to admit this, but anonimity helps. I'm having a hard time understanding what's happening to my body, I'm very happy and it's not like I'm filling voids with food. It's more like I'm celebrating with it. Wii Fit might have the answer!

No one should be subjected to the flabby white thighs that could not possibly be mine. But they appear to be attached to me in the picture, so it must be true. I have already had run-ins with my kids about the "importance factor" of a Wii in our home. Frankly I would love to see their little faces when they realized OUR Wii is to keep them healthy and physically fit.
