This kid better get used to hand-me-downs

That sound you heard was one very delighted almost five-year-old:

The upside? I will never have to grapple with the decision of whether or not to circumcise another human being. Downside… the possibility of three women in one house menstruating simultaneously.

Jon is so outnumbered. And we both could not be more thrilled.

  • Mandy-Anonymous is for sissies

from a mother with three daughters, let me give you some advice….buy stock in toilet paper. seriously, I change the roll way too often. and of course I change the roll. who else would do it?

  • Jessica

Hooray for girls! cogratulations Armstrong Family!

  • Linsey Lou

Congratulations are in order for the Dooce family! Such exciting news! John is totally outnumbered, one might say he lives in a “burger joint”. :)

  • Charlene

I have four sisters (no brothers), and we only had one bathroom in our house growing up. I think that’s why my dad always left for work by 6:00 am! Congratulations!

  • Sara

So many congratulations to your family. I think Princess Aurora Armstrong is a FABULOUS name. ;-)

  • Mari

    Congratulations! So exciting… : )
It’s all good, the girl thing is John’s fault anyway!

  • Spandrel Studios

Life is about to get even *more* interesting – congratulations!

  • Stephanie S

  • Anne

Congrats!!! I am sure Leta is sooooo excited it is not going to be a boy!

  • Allison

Congratulations Heather,Jon and Leta! How exciting! I’m sure Princess Aurora will be just as entertaining as Leta!!

    TO JON

You wouldn’t have to grapple with the circumcision thing for long. It is readily evident that it is whack and pointless. I have confidence in you and your good brain.

  • Tiffany in FL

You will love having 2 girls! It’s so wonderful! Congrats!

  • Jill

Yay!!! That is so exciting! Congratulations!

  • Liesl

That Leta, she calls it like it is.

  • Bush Babe (of Granite Glen)

    Oh wonderful news!! Chicks rule.

John must feel like that dude off the Sex and the City Movie, who says: It is my lot in life to be surrounded by beautiful women!

  • Kristen Lee

Congratulations! How long do you think Leta will call her Princess Aurora?

  • kat

whee! a girl! i’m thrilled for all of you.

  • Robin

By the looks of that ultrasound pic, that baby wanted her sister to make no mistake that she was a princess and not a prince!
Congrats! I anxiously await her arrival and NAME!!! :)

  • Joy

My step daughter is having a girl too! Just found out today!

  • Anonymous

Congratulations! I too have 2 girls, 4, and 20months. They couldn’t be more different, BUT my 20month old already knows each princess by name, and wants to wear dresses all the time just like her big sister. You will have fun!

  • Terry

Congrats! How about this: Lara (like Tara) … Leta and Lara…. omg that’s so cute…

  • Mary

Yay for that baby girl that she’ll be getting hand-me-downs from her big princess sister! Mine came from my brother and with the short hair growing up (I had a choice between a pixie and a shag – shudder!) it was no fun when strangers would comment “What a cute little boy!”

    Congratulations to everyone!

  • Bonnie B.

I had my first daughter when I was 30 and waited 6 years to have the second daughter. Three of you with PMS is the least of your husband’s problems. Tell him it’s possible that, one day, he will be living with two girls with PMS and one wife in menopause. That’ll make him whimper!

  • Crystal

Ya know… my cousin has a daughter.. her name is Aurora, but we call her Rory for short, and it’s too cute! Just a thought! :)

  • Tehmi

It turns out Princess Aurora will survive middle school after all! Congrats!!!!

  • Marina

Oh this is so cool. Congratulations.

  • JessicaAPISS

    Mazel tov!

Congratulations on Princess Aurora, Briar Rose, or, my two year old’s favorite “Seeping Booty”

    So happy for you.

  • Jack & Jill Put Up A Blog

Congratulations!!! Thanks for adding the little arrow to point out the “girl parts” – cool.

  • Beth

That looks like Coco’s profile in the top picture. Congratulations- both on having a girl and not having another Coco!

  • Ellen

Princess Aurora is on the way!
“Jon and the girls” has a nice ring to it.

  • Shannon

Yay! Congratulations! Hopefully this kid will wear pants!

  • Candice

Okay. Controlling myself now. Congratulations. That is AWESOME (okay, maybe not controlling myself after all).

  • Erika

    Congratulations! How exciting!

  • Michele

Congrats Heather and Leta! Sorry Jon. :) We’re due with our 2nd boy soon…..I feel like I’m going to be surrounded by penises but you have a damn good point about the simultaneous menstruating females. Poor Jon.

BTW – I couldn’t love you more for your daily image with Yo Gabba Gabba. We’re big, big fans of the show and it pleases me to no end to see that thumbnail of DJ Lance’s fuzzy head image.

  • Sarah

Congrats! I am so excited for your family, I am sure she will be just as beautiful and hilarious as the rest of you are. :) Thanks for sharing your journey with us, I love your site!

  • Chasinash

Congratulations! Sisters!! How exciting for you guys. Enjoy her.

  • Jason Trommetter

My wife and I were split on the issue of whether or not to circumcise our son. I told her, “There’s no way I’m signing the consent papers for that surgery.” She didn’t sign the consent papers either.

  • Kelsey

    Child porn!

Our first (naked) look at Princess Aurora!

  • Michaela

Congrats on the soon to be newest female member of the family! Chuck and Jon must be thrilled!

  • Sue

I am just a believer that somehow, SOMEHOW those older sibs just KNOW. My son never considered for a minute that he could be getting a little brother. He said there was no way he could love that baby if it was a boy. Never wavered for a second. And, like Leta, he was right.

Congratulations, Dooce, on your happy happy family.

  • Catherine

I am so thrilled for your family! I can’t wait to hear what suggestions you (and Leta) have for the little one. Congratulations!

  • kim from ny

Congrats!!Leta is going to have so much fun tormenting..I mean playing with her little sister;)

  • Adrienne

Oh! Oooh! Congratulations on Princess #2!

  • Lisa

Congrats! And, oh, 3 women menstruating at once under the same roof sounds just positively frightening!

  • Meg

Congrats to you all! I have to admit, I kind of have a morbid car-wreck kind of situation in coming to your blog. You see, I was pregnant with my second and you and I were due on the same day. I thought it was so cool. But I lost my baby and now I sometimes have a hard time coming back around here and seeing your updates, knowing I would be just as far along. But I keep coming, excited for you and your family. So, congrats again.

  • Diana

Congrats to all of you! :)

  • Stephanie Melton

So very happy for you! You and I are exactly one week apart in our pregnancies – we found out last week that our 2nd child will be another boy – and could not be happier that I will be the outnumbered one! I am so glad for you, Jon and especially for Leta. Wishes for a continued healthy pregnancy for you -

  • Stacy

Yay! Sisters are great. I never had one myself, but I have two daughters and they are best friends (and about the same age gap as your girls will be). Congrats!

  • RioGringa

Congrats, Heather! I don’t think I ever want boys; girls are so much better. It will be fun to see the dynamic between your two girls!
