Why is she so pretty?? Why is she not all squishy like a newborn? You must share your L&D story so that we can know how you accomplished this.

    My heartfelt Congrats!!!

    very nice kid

    How absolutely precious!

  • http://www.ramblingbrooke.com Brooke

Congratulations. She’s beautiful. I have a slightly younger sister named Katie. My younger cousin, who is now 14, still calls both of us Brookatie. Who knows…

  • WendyPinNJ

Awwwwwwwwww. She just ate, didn’t she? I remember that contended, wide awake time after their bellies are filled!

    So key-ute. Congratulations.

Oh, and the name thing, look forward to that for the rest of your life!!! I have three and rarely EVER get it right the first, or even second, try. And yes, sometimes I call them by the dog’s name!

    She’s beautiful.

  • Jessica

Quick! Show us a video of her screaming her ass off and the projectile poop before we all go and get knocked up! Mine NEVER looked that relaxed in the middle of the night, or any other time of day actually. Marlo is truly gorgeous, congrats! We all hope to get more of an update on how you’re doing soon!

  • KRistina

    She is PRECIOUS.

  • http://blackpunkin.wordpress.com Inanna

What a beautiful, darling little Gloworm. CONGRATULATIONS!

  • AmyM

What a beauty, and such long fingers. When my dad called us, he’d go through all of my siblings names and the dogs’ names before he got to mine. I now find myself doing the same thing.

  • http://www.broomeman.com/ Donny

She is gorgeous! This video made my morning.

  • Anonymous

Marlo is very beautiful. A really adorable little baby glo-worm. Congratulations!

  • http://kaelva.blogspot.com Katie

How stinkin cute! Sucks that she’s jaundiced. I went through that with mine also. Lucky for you she doesn’t have to be admitted to the hospital. Mine did and that was horrible. I hope her levels get back down to normal for you quickly! She’s beautiful!

  • http://www.bytheseatofourpants.com Jasie VanGesen

Ha! My dad STILL calls me Heidi sometimes (my ten years older than me half sister).

  • http://www.guadagnareonline.eu Andrea

    Hi, congrats!

Yea, we’re not the only ones!

  • Thayer

Congratulations Heather and Jon (and Leta)! Marlo is GORGEOUS! I am so happy for you- she is truly beautiful.

  • Wendee

Classic name confusion! It only gets worse the older they are and more frustrated you get with them! =o) LETA, MARLO, WHATEVER YOUR NAME IS?!?!? Get in here, who did this! LOL

  • Lisa

What a little sweetie pie! Enjoy her!!

  • Holli

I am almost 30, been married for a few years and seriously considering having a baby soon…that video is a good example of why. Beautiful.

  • Noelle

My sister has two boys, 13 and 5..their names are very similar in sound, so just forget about getting their names right the first time. We have a solution for the problem though…we simply refer to them as Bigs and Smalls.

PS: my captcha word has a tilde in it…is that really fair?

  • shan

don’t worry about the jaundice, that’s common with kids who are sushi eating meth addicts… it should wear off after a bit

just make sure she gets plenty of starches to aid her little system in soaking up the whiskey transferred through your boobs

Don’t worry, Jon. My dad still does that to me and my sister and we’re 27 and 25;)
Sorry you can’t snuggle, Heather. But Marlo looks happy, so there’s something to hold you over:)

  • http://www.dramaminequeen.com brandy

I’ve called several people my dogs name and once when we first met I called my fiance my exes name.
    It happens.

Congrats on making another beautiful baby! She’s perfect!

I didn’t realise that both of you were GIANTS though, her stats tell me shes a regular sized baby but in Jons hands she looks like a teeny tiny doll!

Ohh my recaptcha is bitter 3230!

  • http://diapermonologues.com mrs.notouching

You guys did so good! She is breathtaking.

  • http://wilyjeneric.blogspot.com Jenni

Excellent! I am not the only one who does that! Ah, shows you love them the same – keep their names stored in the same spot in your brain. Marvelous (or should I say Marlo-ous)!

  • Kyla

Marlo is beautiful! Congrats! I am amazed at how alert she is at four days old.

  • HDC

Where does one find this mystical breed of infant that isn’t screaming all the time? Mine didn’t come with that setting. I am jealous.

FYI, I only have one but that still doesn’t stop me from getting his name wrong.

  • http://keegangross.com/ Maggie

Oh goodness! If I didn’t already have baby fever! Beautiful!

And I love the glow worm light. My daughter was jaundiced when she was born and I was hoping she would get a little glow worm blanket to take home like I had seen on the baby story shows. Unfortunately, we live in Southern California, and thus there is plenty of sunlight year round so I guess they don’t use them here.

  • QoB

i knew when i went without internet access for 2 days you would pop the sprog…
congrats! and i still get called by my older sister’s name, and my parents never had any pets… I’m sure she’ll get used to it:)

  • Anonymous

OMG I am currently 41 weeks preggo and seeing this makes me want my baby EVEN MORE. Congrats mama!! She’s BEAUTIFUL.

  • Elspeth

i’m a younger child and it’s really disgusting to think of the number of times i’ve been called “luna” (the cat) or “natasha” (mother’s sister). it’s usually something like, “aaron… natasha… luna… elspeth… whatever your name is, get in here!”

  • Noelle

Beautiful. Just a gorgeous lil glow worm!

My baby brother (he’s 23, but still my baby bro, damnit!) is named Noah. I’m Noelle. Parents always, always, always said… “Nooooooooooaaaaa…” Not helpful. Both of our ears would tick in the direction of the voice to hear WHICH of us they were calling.

  • Lady

She’s so precious I can hardly stand it. x_x

  • Rayna

Oh, I love those little baby movements and the tiny little sounds and the moments of quiet when you can just hold them and take in the wonder of it all. Congratulations again! And mixing up the names will happen A LOT! And yes, he will call her Coco yet. :)

  • Anonymous

my grandma would go through a whole list of names
the first five at least weren’t even people in the family

we were lucky if she had the right gender.

  • faq

    CONGRATS!! She’s fabulous.

BTW, both my kids had jaundice (I was totally wigged out with the first one, and so laid back about it with the second), so if Marlo (love the name!) is going to be on lights much longer, if I may suggest, you might want to look into the service where a nurse comes to your house and does the blood draw daily, instead of having to pack it up and go to the doc/hospital to have it done every day.

  • http://nikkiandnat.blogspot.com nikki

She is beyond heart-melting – i’m turning into a puddle. All of this is the best excitement-inducing media for my first, who comes on Tuesday. I’m just a big wobbling mess of love and butter.

My grandmother has 5 kids and sometimes it takes her about 12 tries before she gets our names right… It could be worse! I’ve been called Sheba, her dead dog.

  • Lesley

Watching this, all of my internal walls are momentarily shattered. I’m not particularly religious, but gazing at this video is like stepping into one of those magnificent ancient European churches whose every pore breathes reverence. (Despite, you know, the actual human history of such churches.)

Marlo’s two tiny fingers tapped to her chin while her other hand rests in Jon’s gives me pause, makes me feel good about the world again. Makes me think, if there’s a purpose at all for being here and being good, a new born baby is it.

Beyond the impossibly perfect hands, her dewy enlightened eyes breathe in the sights and sounds: her self new outside the womb, you, the air, the blurriness beyond. Smells must be profound too. And the quiet. And Coco’s bark. Heh.

More like this, please. There can’t be enough more.

  • andie

So, I’ve got a serious question. Did you really give birth to her just a few days ago, or were you hiding her from the world for a month or two, because that baby is perfect! Most newborns are all wrinkly and prune-ish (yet still adorable)but little Miss Marlo here is perfectly smooth and gorgeous and doesn’t look like a wrinkled fruit at all! How do you do it, Armstrong?

Oh, and I agree, she looks remarkably like your father!

  • Hanni

Don’t sweat the mix-up. I have ONE kid and ONE dog and I mix up the names all the time. My excuse is that I’m really-really old, like, 45. And both of them like to cuddle.

  • kel

Rule of thumb while I was growning up: The more names mom had to say in order to get to yours, the more trouble you were in. Sometimes my parents still call us by the wrong name… now THAT’S love :)

  • SarahW

She’s beautiful, it made me cry. But I’m hormonal and due to deliver my first baby (a girl!) in three weeks.

  • http://www.smacksy.com Lisa Rae @ smacksy

    She is pure baby-heart-deliciousness.

My husband refers to our son as “Pooman”.
    Hoping it doesn’t stick.
Unless of course he becomes, Doctor Pooman.

  • http://getupandplay.blogspot.com Barb @ getupandplay

Oh the joys of parenthood! I’m surprised my brain hasn’t slid out of my ears by now! Marlo is just lovely and this video is hilarious and sweet!

  • Camilla

    Congratulations, she is perfect!
I noticed the name thing too when I had my second batch of kids. Yep, identical twins. Total confusion.
Doesn’t matter really, they would probably be called their older brother’s name even if they had been girls.
Good thing we don’t have our 4 pets anymore…

  • http://paigerun.blogspot.com Anonymous

She is so alert and beautiful. I love her long fingers, congratulations. Somehow the 2nd is less stressful I think. You will know that “this too shall pass” in a way you didn’t with the first. At least it worked that way for me. And I didn’t have post partum depression with my 2nd, which was another way it was easier. I wish you all the best.

Get used to being called Leta, Marlo! I’ve spent my entire life being called every name in the book…just comes with the territory of being the youngest!

    Also? Uh, cute. Very.

  • http://allegrasrose.blogspot.com Michele

She is just adorable. I want to hold her.

I go through the whole litany of names that live in my house before I get to the right one.

    I’m sure Jon is tired……:)
