    Soooo gorgeous.

Mine was a glow-worm, too -- three days of that crazy glowing pad. We got lucky - they sent a nurse to us twice a day to draw blood -- poor baby's feet were a wreck! She was in tears the day the lab assistant at the hospital dropped the blood sample, which meant she had to come back out and stick those poor little feet AGAIN.

Want the laugh of the day? We had chosen to not know what gender ours would be, so I took a yellow sleeper to the hospital. Poor thing -- my poor little yellow baby in a yellow sleeper. Awful.

    All will be well, soon.

She's lucky, I was G*dd*mm*t when I wasn't my sister's name. And mine was super yellow too...before bili blankets, they put them back in hospital. So we did some sneaky morning and evening sunbathing in my lap...only about 10 minutes in the Shreveport August heat. Cleared it right up. So if you get too sad about the blanket, sneak on out to that patio and tan 'er up. Don't take pictures, and we won't tell!

And I love the glow worm light. My daughter was jaundiced when she was born and I was hoping she would get a little glow worm blanket to take home like I had seen on the baby story shows. Unfortunately, we live in Southern California, and thus there is plenty of sunlight year round so I guess they don't use them here.

    CONGRATS!! She's fabulous.

BTW, both my kids had jaundice (I was totally wigged out with the first one, and so laid back about it with the second), so if Marlo (love the name!) is going to be on lights much longer, if I may suggest, you might want to look into the service where a nurse comes to your house and does the blood draw daily, instead of having to pack it up and go to the doc/hospital to have it done every day.

Watching this, all of my internal walls are momentarily shattered. I'm not particularly religious, but gazing at this video is like stepping into one of those magnificent ancient European churches whose every pore breathes reverence. (Despite, you know, the actual human history of such churches.)

Marlo's two tiny fingers tapped to her chin while her other hand rests in Jon's gives me pause, makes me feel good about the world again. Makes me think, if there's a purpose at all for being here and being good, a new born baby is it.

Beyond the impossibly perfect hands, her dewy enlightened eyes breathe in the sights and sounds: her self new outside the womb, you, the air, the blurriness beyond. Smells must be profound too. And the quiet. And Coco's bark. Heh.

More like this, please. There can't be enough more.

If you want to see the medical profession at its best show up in emergency with a newborn. Head of the line, no waiting, and they kept calling for help until they found the nurse with magic hands, the one who clicked her tongue, shook her head, and slid that line in first try.

After watching this video I would get pregnant in a minute. Marlo is so amazed and amazing. She is beautiful, just like Leta. She looks pretty cute as a glow worm, too.

As for the names, my mom definitely calls us by each others name and has forever.

What a lovely laugh out loud moment. Welcome to having two kids - I get names wrong so often my 5 year old mocks my mistakes with "I know mom or whatever your name is." Marlo is amazing. XO

we have just given up and combined our kids names so that whatever we say, it at least somewhat resembles the correct name of the kid we are addressing.

    Marlo is beautiful, congrats.

He'll get the last laugh. You'll be doing this in no time. My girls just know to answer to whatever name I'm calling them as I look at them. And yeah, I've been known to call one of them "Trixie" on more than one occasion. Trixie, of course, is the dog.

    She's beautiful. Congrats again.

My son is 21 and I still get him and whoever the current dog is mixed up. Though, for some reason, I've NEVER called him by one of the cat's names!

She is so precious, whatever you call her! Being the second of 4 girls, we all got used to hearing 10 times of everyone else's name but yours. My grandma got so tired of trying to remember our names she'd call us all Herkimer instead. See, it could always be worse!
