So beautiful! I'm sure you're not reading these comments (I hope not!) but if you get sent home on phototherapy you'll really see a glow-worm... they wear this crazy light belt with a tube that strings out of it.

Just think, she's doing more tanning now then you'll ever let her do :)

    Eh..not. I loved the moment you caught....precious.

OOOHHHHH new baby noises! And look at those long fingers! And are they propeller arms I see!

Hilarious about the name thing - I was in hospital with Grover (#4) and after about 6 hours of him hanging off my boobs for the second night I wheeled him out to the nurses saying something about them looking after Jasper (#3) because I needed at least some sleep if I was going to survive.

The midwife came in a few minutes later just to check.

And now? They're all lucky if they get their whole name, not some melange of all of them like OscFelix, or JaspOscar, or GrovJasper, or FelGrover.

I tell them to count their blessings we don't have dogs as otherwise they'd be getting that thrown into the mix.

As for the name confusion I have spent the last almost 30 years being called a mash up of my two sisters names, the dogs names, cats names and my moms five sisters names. as in; "Sarmelistashozsasuscathcarpa, who ever, GET OVER HERE THIS INSTANT!" Now I find I am doing it to my own daughter, and I only have the one.

I've read all the way through your site, as I work in the middle of the night with not much to do...I hope that's not strange...but I find you compelling and interesting and hilarious, so I read. I'm glad I found your site, your family. It's nice to know that I'm not alone on the unpleasant side of being MOM between all the sugar sweet that raising a family can be. keep up the pics, and bring on the birth story, I'm just dying to hear how it went.

i guarantee it won't be the last time one (or both) of you call her leta. & i imagine it won't be too long before you start calling leta marlo accidentally. my sister & i were called by each others name so often for so long it just made more sense to answer to it, rather than begin yet another berating session for calling us by the wrong name.

just like the seemingly never-ending list of stories we parents end up with to embarrass our children later in life, this will be one (of many, i'm sure) that the kids will get to use against you as revenge. "mom, are you sure that senility didn't set in early? cuz you sure never could seem to keep our names straight!"

    she is absolutely beautiful!

Thank you for letting us all see your beautiful new wonder. I wanted more then one and really understood when you tried for baby number 2. Many blessings to you and your family.

And the others are correct; the dogs' names will probably get mixed in there, too.

For some reason I'd only get our youngest, Noah, confused with the dog, Wilbur. Noah was around middle school age when I said this to his older brother: "Please go pick up Noah's poop in the backyard."

Noah's 18 now. We have a different dog. But I still don't think he's forgotten or forgiven that one.

He: No, like the rasta singer guy

My Dad was always getting our names mixed up and we laughed..he just had this doddery way about him. Now I know how easy it is. I'm calling 7 week old Sweeney his brother Pascal's name all the time, and I have called Sweeney Tilly which is our dog's name so wait for that. Bizarre.

Marlo is precious! New babies are making my heart melt left right and centre, the hormones are definitely running rife! I have to say though, that Marlo is exceptionally cute. She seems so alert and chilled out, gorgeous mite. Mine was crying if he wasn't sleeping in the first few weeks but still beautiful. Oh babies, babies..yum!

Regarding name mix up, I have a 5 year old and 1 year old twins, all girls. Since the birth of the babies, I mix up the girls names, sometimes, I throw in the dog's name. But the worst is, their names are Kayla, Danielle and Samantha. I've called Kayla, Kelly and Samantha, Michelle on several occasions. Don't know where the hell that comes from - past lives maybe? Extreme sleep deprvation? Also, Danielle is "that one", Samantha, "this one". Kayla becomes Kipper (our dog, she named it when she was 3)and she laughs, thank god when I call her that. It's terrible and embarassing. Don't know why, maybe I am just so exhausted it comes out all wrong. Then again, maybe I'm just crazy now.

I feel your pain with the damn bili lights. I had my son on Memorial Day at 36w and he was on the lights for 5 days. Heel pricks every day (which somehow my husband managed to avoid holding him for) and almost no snuggling. Our poor kid had to be attached to his light source using binder clips, though (no joke). He was hooked up to the machine by the world's largest and heaviest umbillical cord which made snuggling with the baby I waited for through more than 3 years and 4 miscarriages almost impossible. But seeing him in a borg-like state did amuse my Trekie husband some.

Hoping M is off the lights soon. Nothing like a free, wireless baby!

My niece had one of those blankets on her, earning her the name GloWorm as well. (Those toys were freaking awesome, by the way.)
As for the name mix up, I just start yelling out names when someone does something wrong. I figure I'm covering all bases. Normally my 4 yr old gets called the dog's name and vice versa-- cause they both act like spoiled attention hogs! ;-) The only difference is one of them eats socks.

He never suffered the humiliation of being called a girl's name (heaven forbid), but my mom used to call me Bob fairly often. Sigh...

Makes me miss the little chill checking everything out baby that my now three year old was back at that age (her bday is June 15). Oh my, and it almost makes me want another one JUST so I can experience a 2nd pregnancy & not be as stressed out, worried, etc. as I was the 1st time around. But at age 42, that ain't gonna happen. Besides, Dexy's daddy had a vasectomy last summer so unless I run out & get knocked up by a random stranger, we're done. I can always hope for grandchildren before I turn 70. LOL.

I'm going through a breakup that I wouldn't describe as "bad" since that makes him sound like a bad person but it is... hard. I thought we would end up getting married, and I still think he's the love of my life, but apparently men and women mature at different rates and a 24 year old male is LOATHE to hear anything that even reminds him of babies or marriage. Even though we lived together for a year. Weird, huh? (I know it's not, but just pretend for my sake, ok?)

What does this have to do with you all? Well, I love reading your updates and seeing your wonderful family in action. You have a sense of humor that is so articulate and spot on... I seriously laugh out loud very often when I read this blog. And anything that brings any brightness to my day at all is very welcome at this point. First, congrats to the family for the arrival of the much awaited addition. She is is so adorable she made my womb leap a little.

Jon i must say that you have amazing hands, i can only imagine the comfort they bring your wife and children.

I know when i was a kid and my dad reached down to hold my hand with his huge bear like paws, i felt totally safe and secure. I am sure your girls will (hopefully) feel the same comfort.

Again congrats, no worries about the bili levels, super common and after a little time as a real life glowworm they are none the worse for wear. Although i know that it far easier for me to say as i am not her parents who were probably standing in the hospital with mouths agape when they told you to wrap your baby in a tanning bed to make her less orange.

I cant wait to see her grow up and hear the antics, trials and comedies that ensue over time.

    P.S.
I am mailing the 2 books yall wrote to be signed and i totally understand if it is this time next year when they are returned. I did include a shirt for Leta (hope it fits, if not in 5 yrs Marlo can wear it) its of my favorite childrens books, Sweet Pickles the alphabet/animal series.

good luck and take it one day at a time,
