Basmati rice

2013/01/04

Although rice is devoid of color, an attribute that is required of any food that enters Leta’s body (she makes an exception for Fruity Pebbles), she has never been a fan. In fact, Leta won’t eat bread or potatoes that are not cut into a specific shape. She’ll look at a piece of dry toast and be like, “Listen. I said bland. It’s like you’re not even trying.”

And then there’s Marlo, my rice and chicken and tomato and pepper eating oddity. Sure she’s using her hands here, but this isn’t about my parenting skills and the fact that I do not possess any. She’s eating food! A food that did not originate in America! A food that was not manufactured in a lab!
