I took this photo the weekend we hosted Dane’s dog Kadie when we decided to try a new trick with the dogs by scattering their dinner around the yard. It’s something Chuck’s trainer once mentioned as a way to exercise his brain (the dogs have to tune in to their senses to find the food). Of course, no new chore goes unnoticed or uncelebrated by Marlo who volunteered to scatter the food for us, a chore made even more merry by the presence of Dane, her favorite friend outside of her stuffed puppy.
I love this portrait of them, and I hope Dane remains a lifelong friend so that I can show this to Marlo when she’s older. And she can say, “Wow! That’s when he had all of his hair!”
