Autumn light

As is usual with seasons in Utah, temperatures dropped suddenly and everything is now frozen and dead.

The end.

I’m loving the light that comes through the front door this time of year (yes, there is a basket by this door as well). It’s low, dim, nostalgic, wistful. Both dogs hang out here a lot during the day, peering out to see what’s going on out on the street. Coco is barking a lot more because of the falling leaves, because SOMETHING IS MOVING and that means the world is out of order. I see them in this light and it makes me think about the years they’ve been with us, of the memories both girls will have of their dogs. I’ll show them this photo in several years and say, “Remember this cranky old man?”
