Final photos from Amsterdam

I have finally finished uploading all the photos I took in Amsterdam to my flickr account, lo these four weeks later. I personally think these are some of the best photos I've ever taken, and I guess it didn't hurt that the subject matter was so unbelievable that it practically took the pictures itself.

You can see the whole set of photos I took here. Jon's set of photos (which blow mine out of the water) are here.

These are some of my favorites from the set I just uploaded:

I love the pics. It's too bad you can't be here in a month or two, the tulips are beautiful. If I had any talent with a camera, I could send some to you. Alas, I do not, the camera is also deployed with my husband anyway :)

First of all, in the five minutes it took me to sign up to TypeKey, you got 7 comments. Good luck with that!

Second, thanks for cheering me up. Usually, on a daily basis, but more so recently. Im 21, and my father has recently been through divorce... he's finally been issued prozac because he wasn't coping and I went and read your depression posts; inspiration and a comfort to us all :)

    Thirdly, nice pics :D

The picture of that cat peeking around the door is so cute! AND I DON'T EVEN LIKE CATS.

Also, how do you do this? It's as if you actually killed the cat, and then posed it to make it APPEAR AS THOUGH it was peering around the door, so you could capture the moment.

And that pink flowery twiggy thing? Love it.

I love the one where you get up close to the ground. It's very visceral--I feel like I'm right there seeing Spring arrive in Amsterdam. (Did you lie on the ground?)

That cat is also very cool. Actually, these pictures are amazing. Thanks for sharing these! I went to Amsterdam a few winters ago and have zero to show for it. I do have one hazy memory where, stoned out of my mind, I went to a theater and realized that the people up there weren't just dancing, they were having sex, too. I'll just pretend to myself I saw all these stunning images instead.

Photos are very nice. We have 2 Nikon d-70s because we are both such shutterbugs... in my opinion it is worth the extra expense for the second camera body because we share lenses and other gear. Plus it really saves the marriage when we're not fighting over the camera while on trips.

The kitty cat and Jon smoking a pipe are my faves. Each photo is a fantastic vignette.

I did a lot of my best photography when I lived in Paris. Between the wonderful sites, the European vibe, and feeling empowered, I am at my artistic (not to mention wino) best when I'm there. In fact, I have Paris to thank for getting me into photography.

Thanks to you and Jon for taking me down memory lane with your truly fantastic shots!

When I was in Amsterdam we really wanted to see Ann Frank's house, but were on our own and couldn't find it anywhere. We kept asking locals and shopkeepers, etc. and they just looked at us like, riiiiiight. So we finally get someone who lights up when we say Ann Frank and says, yes, yes, and tells us two blocks down, three blocks over, etc. We trudge there only to round the corner to see an Anne Klein store.

Never did see Ann Frank's house.

I guess I'm with the majority in liking the pipe photo best. There's something beautiful about capturing smoke because it's only in that formation for a second.

And as an architecture buff, I adore the building shots. And the green fence is great! It could practically stand alone as a sculpture, but I bet most people walk past without even giving it a second glance. Thanks for taking us with you.
