Here we are as in olden days

This will be Leta's first Christmas and, really, the first that we celebrate in our own house as last year we were engaged in the calamity otherwise known as The Armstrong Kitchen Remodeling Disaster. So we went looking for a Christmas tree today.

And we looked and looked. FOR OVER AN HOUR. In a state where four inches of snow COVER THE GROUND, HOW WRONG IS THAT? And we finally ended up at a supermarket because that's the only place that was selling real trees. Does no one decorate a real tree anymore? Has America lost ITS SOUL?

So we set up the tree in the dining room and had to move a rocking chair to make room for its piny circumference. And I told Jon to move the rocking chair to the basement, The Official Junk Holding Storage Space Until We Can Find Something Better To Do With It, and he said, "No, I'm just going to move it to the front porch." And I was all, "But we already have a rocking chair on the porch, and it doesn't match the one you want to move out there. We'll have two un-matching rocking chairs on the porch."

And he gave me a look, and I gave him a look, and I agreed, "Oh, what the hell. We're the Armstrongs. Will anyone even notice?"
