Although it was a little chilly our last night on the lake in Wisconsin, the kids really wanted to swim for a few hours and were lucky enough to share some time with a mother duck and eight or nine of her growing ducklings. At night bullfrogs would come out and make this ungodly croak that sounded like a quack gone horribly wrong, so we kept saying that the lake was filled with “bull ducks,” just one of many inside jokes that pop up among a group of good friends traveling together.
