This here bringer of the pooper to the fun party

Welcome to Armstrong Inn, part four

So. Do you guys want to see the final reveal of the guest room, or should I ramble like an idiot for a few paragraphs first? You want the idiot part? Aren’t there like 6,000 pages of that on this website already? No, 6,000 is not an exaggeration, I AM LONG-WINDED.

Seriously, this website has killed so many trees.

I don’t want to color your reaction to the room in any way, but I know there are going to be some questions about why we did this or that and can I tell you where I got something and can I please not ever do that again. IT’S LIKE I’M INSIDE YOUR BRAIN. I plan on answering all your questions in a final post that will include pictures and long-winded reasoning behind everything (so, if you do have questions, fire away in the comments, although if you are mean I’ll make fun of your hair). But for now, I just want to share the final product with you. Because I am a sharer. Except when it comes to French fries and if you even think about reaching over here I will smack your hand right off.

(Thank you Anna Beth [y’all need to sign up for her design camp] for all your hard work. I mean, ah know, right? Thank you, Jon, for the gorgeous cinematography and music. And many thanks to Tyrant for all the details you don’t see but were critical in bringing all this together. YOU WILL GROW TO LOVE THOSE LAMPS, HON.)

……..

This post is brought to you by IKEA and THIS IS THE OFFICIAL DISCLOSURE, WHAT UP, FTC!

Lovely! Very inviting and you were able to keep it gender-neutral, so to speak. Excellent solution to the windows.

And best of all – there’s the water carafe I suggested! Yay!

Well done, Heather. Ya’ll did a great job!

Purty nice…I think you could find “something’ better instead of the abstract painting. ..wasn’t crazy ’bout that.

Yeah, check those bags before they leave, so the robe doesn’t sneak out…or the lamps.

    Fun stuff…nice job.

  • specialkrispy

Absolutely perfect. I agree with Tyrant on the lamps, though. Not in love with them. But for a guest room they’re fine. They’re not in a place where you have to see them every day. 🙂

  • thesoutherngirl

This may not be popular but eh, who cares. I freaking love that cow hide rug.

  • Shana in Texas

Nice room but not really to my taste (I’m more traditional / theme-oriented). I like the thoughtful touches (toiletries, passwords, etc) and the use of color to lighten-up the brown.

However, I am with the others who are questioning Tyrant’s gayness – Crocs, WTF? Thought you banned those from your house? I understand artistic license but you let him put his “shoes” on the bed??

So, this room is awesome! Love how clean and fresh it looks. I love the combo of textures, colors, prints. It’s artsy and expresive and I absolutely love how it came together. The lamps give it a unique touch that makes it YOURS. Love, love, love it 🙂

It looks great! And it looks like you had a lot of fun putting it together. However, I had to cringe when I saw the alarm clock because the one thing I was going to write when you asked for suggestions but didn’t because I didn’t think you would really read the suggestions was to NOT have an analog clock. I have stayed in rooms where I had to hide a clock in a dresser drawer or take the battery out altogether just to make the damn ticking stop! This is something you wouldn’t notice until you actually try sleeping in the room, when it’s dark and quiet and the ac/heat has shut off and all you can hear is your own breathing (tick tick tick). I hope your alarm clock is a nice silent one (until the alarm goes off, of course 🙂

Is TV on order for above the dresser?
Love the little monkey on the headboard behind Tyrant’s right shoulder!

  • JBK

Love the lamps! I think the room is great but I almost spit when the camera panned to the “wall art”. What IS that soulless thing? I know that many young artists would be so happy to sell you a real painting for a few hundred dollars!

And if it really isn’t some mass-produced thing and that’s just a trick of the camera, then never mind.

Gorgeous!!! I would like to make a reservation please!!

  • G.Sims

I’m not sold on the dandelion curtains, but if you lose the bright pink flowers and that artwork it would be Awesome! Did you add in stationery too? A postcard, notepad, pen?

Heather, this is the first video I’ve heard your voice and it’s very engaging. Also, where is the reservations button?

  • The Bold Soul

Totally freakin’ fabulous. Love the curtains. Wish I could afford to fly your friend over to Paris to help me finish off a few rooms in my home!

Awesome job. Love, love, love the dresser lamps. If Tyrant succeeds in his quest to remove them, I’ll buy them from you! I was in the process of turning my son’s room to a guest room (he’s now at college) when I stumbled across your request for reader input. Those suggestions were a huge help to me and it’s a far better guest room as a result. The room still needs a dresser and I may end up buying it at IKEA (if I’m not able to find something old that I can redo). Your guests are going to love your their new digs!
