Rachel Bellinsky is a photographer who lives in San Diego, and Tails from the Fishbowl is a collection of photographs of pets in windows that she took while walking her dog through her neighborhood. Maybe you have to be a pet owner to appreciate this, but is there a more cherished spot in the house for a pet than the view through a window? I mean, other than the trashcan filled with used tissues and tampon applicators.
During the first few months of living with Chuck I marveled at how many times I’d find him sitting next to the wall of west-facing windows in the apartment, his head perched on a sill, his tail wagging as people walked by. He’s always found the window with the best view wherever we have lived. Is it curiosity? Is he being instinctually territorial? Is he spying on the neighbor with huge boobs?
This book would make a great gift for any pet owner who has ever witnessed and appreciated this phenomenon, for those of us who have seen other pets in windows and thought, oh look! Theirs does that too! (Right before being barked off of their property.)
