Haiti

Sunday service

Sunday morning while traveling to a rural town in Haiti we passed one church after another, people in their finest attire walking along the roads and spilling into their courtyards. I’ve learned that taking photos from the window of a moving van rarely turn out to be anything but a wobbly mess, but somehow I caught this one. Haiti is so vibrantly musical, especially during those sabbath services. But there is also a serenity that accompanies it, an easiness, something akin to what I think a lot of us here would refer to as living inside the moment. The stillness of this shot comes close to capturing the latter part of that atmosphere.
