One of he most important directives in the Go Home Training for Birggo Mortensen’s boot camp involved her *line of work* or what the trainer emphasized with his voice in all caps as the following: YOUR DOG MUST STAY ON THIS BED IF YOUR DOG IS INSIDE YOUR HOME. THIS IS HER JOB. SHE WANTS TO WORK AND YOU MUST GIVE HER THIS JOB.

And I was like, I know a certain teenager who will be very jealous of a certain wolf.

They were not joking. And when I asked, “You mean, what, 30 minutes at a time?” The trainer kindly shook his head.

“No. She has been on this bed for as long as seven hours straight. We let her off for the purposes of going to the bathroom.”

I thought he was out of his mind, the idea of Birgs remaining on a cot when inside. But HOLY GOD. She had one hiccup the first day, and since then goes straight to the bed and doesn’t wait for the remaining commands “down” or stay.” She just does it, and she’s there for hours. Birgs is calmer inside the house now than a douche commercial with the volume turned all the way down. And she loves it.

This could not have been more timely given the state of my life, both physically and emotionally. Her calm brings me calm. 🐺🙏🏻
