Laundry helper

photo of Chuck by Heather B. Armstrong for dooce.com

I could come up with a metaphor, but it’s just a dog in a damn laundry basket. Maybe I can find some lines to recite from one of his many poems about death or taxes or rain.

discarded
a dirty shirt at the end of the day
socks on the floor
and loose change on the table
beside the bed where he used to sleep
and dream of death and taxes
and rain
