“Maybe there’s a good reason donkeys shouldn’t talk”

Last night Leta and I joined Dane and Tyrant for a showing of Shrek The Musical downtown at the Capitol Theater (I got to snap a few photos during the first fifteen minutes). Neither she nor I had seen the movie, so we had no idea what to expect. Shrek’s Scottish accent made things a little difficult to understand during the first act, but the second act was brilliantly comical, appealing to both an adult and adolescent sense of humor. Leta absolutely loved the whole experience, but she is usually in bed by 8:30PM. The show didn’t end until after 10, and she was so tired she didn’t want to stick around to meet the characters.

“Please don’t make me stay awake any longer!” How many times did I say those exact words to her during the first three years of her life?

As a special treat I let her sleep with me in my bed, and she was out not thirty seconds after her head hit the pillow. I had to drag her out of bed this morning to get her to school on time, so my apologies to her teacher if she’s a little sluggish today. Sorry! She had a date with an ogre.
