Handmade hippo wood teether

Have I officially become That Hippo Lady? Yes? No problem, at least I'm not That Lady Who Likes To Take Out Her Teeth At Parties. Not yet, anyway.

This adorable teething toy is from the Little Alouette Etsy shop, and it's handmade from Ohio Maple and finished with certified organic flax seed oil. Love the simplicity and clean beauty of it. Not sure how the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) is going to affect toys like this one in the very near future, a new law that would require prohibitively expensive testing and labeling for children's products that is sure to have devastating effects on small businesses like this one. In the meantime, I'm trying to stock up the nursery with as many beautiful handmade items as I can find.

Heather talks about Valentine's Day on today's Momversation.

  • I know zero about sports, but my entire heart is screaming, "Go Saints! Go Saints!" I am a stereotypical woman. TAKE OUT THE GARBAGE, JON!
  • Marlo has a tooth! So says the blood that she drew when she grabbed my hand and tried to gnaw off my thumb!
  • Leta won't eat her birthday cake. I guess we should have made it out of chicken nuggets and iced it with refried beans.
