the smell of my desperation has become a stench

Fake empire

I returned from New York yesterday afternoon in time to spend the rest of Mother’s Day with my girls and my mother. We had tacos and chips and salsa and brownies and orange soda, and I sat on a couch in my mother’s living room a bit of an exhausted mess. My trip was a whirlwind of work and more work and then some more, and I snapped this shot along 5th Avenue right before the light turned green and four cabs deliberately tried to run me over.

New York, I love you and your relentless energy. Even the sirens and jackhammers at three o’clock in the morning.
