Last night after I Marlo and I read books and I sang her songs, she turned over with her thumb in her mouth and I kissed her forehead. I stood up to leave, said good night when she suddenly sat up.
“Mom, when I wake up will I be four?” she asked.
“You sure will be!” I answered.
“Can I wake up now?”
“No, you have to sleep now.”
“But I want to be four now.”
“It doesn’t work that way,” I explained.
“But I want it to work that way.”
“You’re going to have to take that up with science, kid.”
