Obamacare

Because of The Affordable Care Act I was able to get both me and the girls onto a single healthcare plan that is over $300 less per month than what I was paying for us previously. It also covers so much more including eye exams and glasses which, if you haven’t noticed, are somewhat pertinent to both of my children. It also covers mental health which is pertinent to me since the next season of “Game of Thrones” doesn’t start until April, and my therapist is helping me process my grief.

Leta is very good about wearing her glasses all the time due in no small part to the fact that she really, really, really can’t see without them. Marlo, however, would like to aim hers with a slingshot at a brick wall. She’s good about wearing them at school, but at home I find them in the oddest places. I finally taught her to set them on a specific spot on the countertop if she is going to take them off (a rule she’s following very closely as seen here in this photo). I’m just stunned and grateful that she hasn’t lost them or broken them or purposely set them on the ground and jumped on them.

It’ll be interesting to see if her eyesight evolves like Leta’s has, and if it does I’m so happy we have health care coverage that takes it seriously.
