Rules of thumb

“The goal of this website is to gather every rule of thumb on earth into one gargantuan, easily searchable online reference database that will be accessible from anywhere in the world and continue to grow forever.”

Here are a few of my favorites:

“A clear idea is one that fits on the back of a business card.”

“Read your work out loud to locate problems. If you run out of breath, the sentence is too long.”

“The heavier the traffic, the less you gain by changing lanes.”

“If an ad is well designed, it will look just as good upside down.”

“Done is better than perfect.”
