Some of my favorite texts are from the girls’ babysitter who picks them up from school and stays until 5:30 so that I can get in a full day of work. She knows I’m downstairs at my desk, so she’ll just text me the things Marlo says or does to cause as little interruption as possible:
Which is very kind of her, both wanting to share the everythingness that is Marlo as it is happening and not wanting to disrupt my work. Except most afternoons I can hear Marlo squealing in the backyard as she catches leaves in her dimple, or Leta will attempt a handstand or front flip in the room right above me making it sound like an asteroid has crashed through the roof.
Working from home has its challenges, but being this close to them for those few hours every afternoon is worth the little frustrations.
