About an hour into our walk on Saturday, Coco found this stick and carried it with her the rest of the way, frequently bringing it to me so that I’d throw it for her. For those of you who have dogs who love to fetch, you might sympathize with the feeling I get after I’ve thrown an object about fifty times: “Aren’t you done yet? Because I am.”
If I don’t throw it, however, she will continue to drop it at my feet or gently nudge me in the legs with it, as if to say, hey. Remember? We were doing this thing. And the rules say we have to do it for eternity.
