A few months ago my mother sold her cabin out in the high desert. It required too much maintenance for her and my stepfather, and while we’re all sad about having to say goodbye to those memories, I totally understand wanting to pare back and simplify. She sold a lot of the furniture and thrifted accessories that filled the cabin and then let me and my siblings choose pieces if we wanted anything. I grabbed an old dresser that I stuck in a perfect sized nook in my entryway, a dresser I chose because it matches my dogs.
