New Tunes – Sea Wolf

2012/12/13

Sea Wolf is a band headed by Alex Brown Church, an indie folk artist based in Los Angeles, California. The best way I can describe the sound here is Travis meets Radiohead where Radiohead has taken a lot of Xanax and is lounging in a hot bath.

This album is the perfect backdrop to the increasingly colder weather and it perfectly captures the way oncoming snowstorms stretch across the Utah sky in giant gray waves. The album is called Old World Romance, and I’d feature every song if I could, they are all that good. This is the opening track called “Old Friend.”

Oh, how we used to run up in the park
Cool air, and eucalyptus leaves
Oh, how we’d look out
Out over the bay
Must’ve fallen through the gate
Couldn’t wait to get away
